My journey with Truth and Reconciliation started with Project Of Heart. I followed the 6 different steps that are outlined, and educated myself about the Marievel Indian Residential school that was on the Cowessness First Nations Treaty 4 territory. I also chose to learn about the Saulteaux First Nations who I share the land with, and the original signatories of Treaty 4 territory. Here pictured below are, Truth and Reconciliation Rocks that I created to gift survivors of Residential Schools, and to honor the Resilience of First Nations at the attempted genocide by our Canadian Government. Through these gifts, I can begin to build my relationship with the Indigenous people in the Community I live in which is on Treaty 4. <3
These are the rocks I decorated for my esthetic representation of Truth and Reconciliation. I chose to use symbols significant to the Indigenous culture, and words that to me, represent Truth and Reconciliation.
Arrow which symbolizes strength.
Feather which symbolizes truth and courage.
Medicine Wheel which symbolizes healing.
Sun regarding the Treaty promises lasting forever.
Buffalo which represents respect and the resilience of the First Nations people.
Orange color to represent the children who were affected and harmed by Residential Schools
