I am a 48-year-old mother and wife who moved to Regina just as the pandemic was gearing up. We relocated our family here from the interior of British Columbia in search of a better quality of life and opportunities for both ourselves and our young daughter, specifically so I would have the opportunity to go back to school. I was an educational assistant in BC prior to our move and it was that position that re-ignited my passion for teaching along with encouragement from several of my co-workers. I have been working as an educational assistant with Regina Public Schools for the last three years while I have been taking classes in the evenings and summer.

My passion has always been in education, specifically with children with special needs. I have discovered over the years in both the childcare field as well as in a support staff role within the public education system that I have a natural ability to connect with children whom others consider “difficult”. I am able to connect and build strong relationships with them easily which allows me to help even the most reluctant of learners to be successful. These learners are my people. They are the reason I look forward to going to work every day. They feed my heart and my soul and are a big part of why I have chosen this path.
