My teacher honors different ways of knowing through the various activities she chooses to do in class. This week she began the afternoon by reading a story about diversity. The book talked about new students immigrating to Canada and how they felt alone because they were different. The book goes on to explain how these differences are important and special and something to be excited about! The kid’s loved the book; one even saying it was his favourite book he’s ever read. I was impressed by the topic of the book and how it was able to cover such a difficult topic in a kid friendly and beneficial way. I was also very impressed with my teacher for selecting that book for her class. That selection demonstrates how she honors the diversity in her classroom.
