Field Placement Week 4

There seems to be many different forms of diversity that I’ve noticed in the classroom and the school over the past couple of weeks. This week in particular I was able to observe many different aspects of the school. I went on Halloween and got to participate in the Mission Fair. I was in my teacher’s classroom still and got to help her with her Halloween themed activity. Her activity was the sorting hat from Harry Potter. The entire student body was allowed to roam the school in the second half of the afternoon and enjoy the different activities set up in each classroom. I noticed diversity in age, race, gender, learning style, and social interactions. All of these things were brought to my attention even more when I got to interact with more students.

I noticed the school honoring inclusive practices throughout the Mission Fair. Some students didn’t come to school with a costume, perhaps due to financial issues at home or other reasons, but at school they had a face painting station that allowed students to feel dressed up and included in the Halloween spirit.
