My Photography Learning Experience
As the class is coming to an end, it is time to wrap up my learning project. I chose to enhance my photography skills using my phone because I am interested in photography. I wanted to learn how to take decent photos on my phone and find apps that are as good as a camera. Over the last few weeks of my learning project journey, I have gained confidence in my skills of taking photos and have learned how to find resourceful websites, videos, articles, and apps to assist in my learning. As I finish my learning journey, I reflect on my incredible experience. This project has been both challenging and rewarding, from understanding the fundamentals of photography to experimenting with different apps. Here is a summary of what I have learned through my learning journey and the highs and lows of my experience:
Learning Project Week 1- My Journey into Photography
- Introduction to project
- Developed a plan
- What tools or apps I plan to use for guidance
- Learn the basics: aperture, shutter speed, light control
Learning Project Week 2- My Weekend Photography Adventures with Reeflex Pro
- Discovered Reeflex Pro app
- Spent the weekend experimenting with the app
Learning Project Week 3- Photography Insights from TikTok Tutorials
- Learned photography tips and techniques on TikTok
- Encountered challenges finding the right focal points and angles
- Made progress through trial and error
Learning Project Week 4- Exploring Instagram’s Camera
- Faced initial technical issues with Instagram’s camera
- Learned to use Instagram’s photography features
- Resolved issues
- Focused on lighting, composition, and avoiding over-editing
Learning Project Week 5- Disposable Camera Apps
- Compared two similar disposable camera apps
- My experience with both apps
- Whether I would recommend them or not
Learning Project Week 6- My Experience with the Dispo Camera App
- Exploring Dispo app
- What I like about Dispo and how it compares to other apps
- Whether I would recommend it to others
My takeaway from this experience is that you have to learn the fundamentals before diving deeper into any skill because, without this foundation, you will not fully understand what you are doing. I have also learned that technology is a valuable tool. Using various apps and exploring their features can significantly enhance your skills. Mistakes are part of the process, but perseverance and overcoming challenges are crucial for personal growth. Lastly, feedback and suggestions from peers are valuable. Embracing their suggestions not only aids in my development but also makes everyone feel involved in the journey.
My biggest challenges were getting frustrated when an app was not working or when my photos did not turn out as expected. However, through constant learning and improving my skills using various sources, I gained a deeper understanding of how to take professional photos using my phone. This project taught me the importance of patience and experimentation in the learning process. It also highlighted the benefits of using online resources to learn or enhance a skill. Although improving my photography skills was somewhat difficult, I am glad I chose photography because I learned many valuable tips and tricks along the way.
Here are some of my favourite photos I have taken along my learning journey of phone photography.
