About Me

Howdy! I’m Morgan Halvorsen and welcome to my educational journey. Take a seat and have some tea because this is where I get to tell you all about me.

Before I started University, I was enrolled in Ecole St. Mary and then into Archbishop M.C. O’Neil high school’s French program. For my elementary and high school schooling, I’ve studied, practiced, and learned the French language and graduated as bilingual.

I started my university journey back in the Fall semester of 2015. At that time, I was enrolled in the French Education BAC program for secondary students. After two years, I decided that that program wasn’t for me, I did enjoy my studies and I didn’t like the person it was shaping me to be. I realized that it wasn’t the programs, I just wasn’t ready and still needed to figure out me before I could teach others how to find themselves. I took courses that I wanted to and knew I would enjoy until I was ready to try again with the education system. Last year, I rejoined the faculty of Education as a middle years student. Since then, I’ve met so many wonderful people who have helped me on my journey and many people who I can safely call friends. They uphold the same drive that I have to be an educator and have the creativity to wield the position.

I currently work at the DavidsTEA in the Cornwall center here in Regina and have worked there for the past two years. I’ve learned teamwork and rely on the support that my coworkers give me. The staff is a group of incredible individuals with different points of view. They’re often people I go to for advice and to bounce off my crazy lesson plan ideas. They encourage me to be myself and dare to try. Since working there, I’ve come more out of my shell and my public speaking has increased tenfold.

Ringette is a big part of my life. I’ve been playing for over a decade. Through those years, I’ve learned the importance of a great team, support, physical movement, and passion. Before I started playing, which was like when I was ten, I had trouble grabbing onto sports that I really enjoyed. So when a teacher came with pamphlets for trying Ringette, I thought it would be interesting and decided to grab one. I stunk my first year. I couldn’t skate properly, forwards or backwards, or catch a pass, or even stop! But I loved it. I loved the rush you get skating down the ice for the ring, the comradery on the bench, and the game itself. It was a season that built a foundation for next year, and then the next years to come. Today, I play with my team the Honey Badgers.

A few years ago, my friends pulled me into the creative world of cosplay. I was very wary of it at first because, I didn’t know how to do it. It was something entirely new and adventurous for me. After some pushing from my friends I finally took the leap and tried my hand at creating my own cosplay. I’ve found it to be easier to make costumes for things that interest an individual most. Thus far I have cosplayed as: the Summer Soldier – a funny take on MARVEL’s character the Winter Soldier, a Red Blood Cell and a Normal Cell from a show called Cells At Work!, and as an android named Chloe from a video game called Detroit Become Human.
