“Digital Love”
Something interesting I have learned recently is that the largest population of people on Facebook are between the ages of 25 and 35. That was shocking because it is the #1 app/website I use to keep in touch and procrastinate with, and I also use it for my side hustle, selling athletic wear. My next most used app is Snapchat, and after that, I would use TikTok. With my busy lifestyle, I do not often spend much leisurely time on these apps (until homework needs to be done). I strictly use these for dopamine hits, socializing and mindless scrolling. Apps and websites that I often use for work purposes tend to be Pinterest, TpT, Canva, and Cinchshare. There is also an excellent app for courses with more notes and slides called Notability. I enjoyed that app during school.
I have undiagnosed ADHD, so I like to keep myself busy. The busier I am, the less distracted I get because I must be intentional with my time. This method is not always the best for house cleaning and the days when I get quadruple booked I always wish there was another me to help out but technology just isn’t there yet ;). The apps I get most distracted in are the ones with reels: 15-30sec videos that are on a never-ending loop of other short videos for me to continue mindlessly scrolling through.
During our last class I saw that we can monitor our screen wasting time and limit the amount of time we spend on those apps. I haven’t committed to this feature yet but I believe it will be a big time/life saver. However, when a person has run around like a squirrel with its head cut off all day… coming home and doom-scrolling for a short time is not always the worst.

Amanda, Facebook is also my number one time waster. Those darn cat reels suck me in every single time and then all of a sudden, it’s been 10 minutes of watching cats and dogs and capybaras!! I don’t do SnapChat (my kids are probably grateful for that) or TikTok (although my kids constantly tell me the reels I watch are actually TikTok videos). I do love me some Pinterest and TpT has proven itself to be a really helpful resource!
Sometimes one just needs 10-15 minutes of non-squirrelling to make oneself feel human again!
