My name is Bart Mihalicz. I am an educator in Moose Jaw, SK, on Treaty 4 Territory. I live in Canada’s Most Notorious City with my wife of 11 years, 10-year old son, 7-year old daughter, 17-year old billet son, and our 1 dog.
Moose Jaw is not home for me and it was not the first, second, or third stop in my career, but it is where I have ended up. Over my 17 years of teaching, I have collected a wealth of experience in rural high schools and K-12 schools, and am presently in my third different urban elementary school. Each of these chapters provided experience and relationships that continue to me as an educator and leader.
When I am not in the classroom, I can be found in school gyms, rinks in the area, or local ball diamonds. If I am really lucky, I will be sitting off to the side watching instead of in the action as a coach. If I can find some “me” time, I might get to sneak on to a golf course or out a boat. If.
As you may guess by my photo, I really took Covid hair to the limit. My wife might say that I flew by that limit in June of 2020. The class I taught last year raised $500 for me to chop it off, and through my own social media begging, I raised an additional $1200, all of which was donated to mental health supports here in Moose Jaw through a rucking fundraiser (that is not a typo) and donated the hair as well! Exercise, fresh air, and a great cause.
