I am 33 years old, originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, but I spent most of my primary and secondary years growing up in Kelvington, Saskatchewan. Currently, I am in my third year working at Notre Dame, and I coach the high school girls’ volleyball team, which keeps me pretty busy. I’m also working on my master’s degree in adult education and human resources, and I’m nearly halfway through my classes.
My Family
My parents separated when I was around 11 or 12. My dad has since remarried, divorced, and is now with his long-term partner, Kim. They live between Williams Lake, BC, and Kamloops, BC. My mom and her husband, Ralph, live in Grand Coulee, SK, just west of Regina. I have two sisters and a brother. Chantelle, my oldest sister, lives in Saskatoon with her husband, Jonn, their son Hayes, and their dog Riley. Nathan, my second-oldest sibling, lives in Warman, SK with his wife Jenn and their kids, Ava and Auston. They also have a dog named Ella. My youngest sister, Danica, lives in Regina with her boyfriend, Landon, and his son, Alex.
My daughter, Ardann, was born at the end of October 2020. She is almost 4 years old now. She is attending pre-school now and is on her way to Kindergarten in fall 2025. We also have two dogs: Charlie, a Golden Retriever crossed with a Lab, and Lola, a pure bred chocolate Labrador.
Education and Career
I moved to Regina in 2009 to attend the University of Regina, where I earned two degrees: a Kinesiology degree with a major in Health Promotion and a Secondary Education After-Degree with a major in Health Education and a minor in Physical Education.
I started my teaching career at Birch Hills Public School, where I taught a range of subjects from Grade 6 to Grade 8. I later moved to Alberta to teach at Grand Trunk High School, where I taught subjects like Physical Education, Social Studies, and Leadership. After some health challenges, I decided to move back to Regina.
Since then, I’ve completed a certificate in extended studies in Secondary Mathematics to enhance my qualifications.
Volleyball and Other Passions
Volleyball is a huge part of my life. I am involved in women’s and co-ed volleyball leagues, and I’ve competed in tournaments across Saskatchewan and the U.S. Playing volleyball keeps me active and provides an outlet for my competitive side.
I’m also passionate about art, particularly drawing, though I don’t always find the time to practice as much as I’d like. Recently, I’ve started learning how to use a Cricut machine, and I enjoy making things for my family.
That’s a little about me! I hope you stick around and follow along as I continue blogging and sharing more of my journey.
