Differentiation Learning Strategies

Multiple Intelligences:

  1. Musical: Singing, instruments, rhymes, poetry, raps
  2. Logical/Mathematical: Patterns, organizers, puzzles, compare/contrast, maps/codes, graphs/charts
  3. Intrapersonal: Independent study, review and visualize, imagine and write, goal setting, personal journals
  4. Body-Kinesthetic: Physical exercise, perform, dance, hands-on creations, manipulate
  5. Spatial: Visual diagram, paint, models, detail, posters/maps
  6. Interpersonal: Role play, group work, interview, meetings, conferencing, teach and tell stories
  7. Linguistic: Write, read, report, explain, label, follow directions.

Adaptive Dimension:

  1. Learning environment: Consistent, predictable and structured. Flexible and engaging involving both group and individual learning. Culturally inclusive atmosphere.
  2. Instruction: Considers student interests, learning profiles, perspectives, preferences, and linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Need to enrich, extend, reinforce or teach differentially. Need to be varied, flexible, and of the appropriate duration for student engagement and success.
  3. Assessment: Assessment for learning, as learning, and of learning. Adaptations of format, length of time, and place of assessment. Includes variety of evidence, and encourages active participation and student self-assessment.
  4. Resources: Reflects diversity of students in their abilities, perspectives, identities, interests, experiences, cultures and ways of knowing.
