Strumming!

For this week, I thought of strumming. I’ve heard the word “strum”  but couldn’t place its meaning, so I decided to go on a strumming adventure. Strums are often contrasted with plucking, as a means of vibrating an instrument’s strings.

During my search on how to strum my Guitar, I stumbled on the article “Expert tips for strumming a guitar with or without a pick for beginners” on the wikiHow site. This is an online wiki-style community consisting of an extensive database of how-to guides. wikiHow provides a place for users to learn how to do things and to share how-to knowledge with others. My biggest motivation from this article was getting to know that ‘while it’s important to learn the rudiments and scales when you’re learning to play the guitar, the fun part is when you can start strumming. With a little practice and proper technique, you might be able to start playing songs you recognize sooner than you think!’

It’s my first time using wikiHow and so far I’m enjoying exploring the site. Here are some tips that I learned about strumming:

Strum the strings between the sound hole and the bridge                                                    Try upstrokes                         Use your wrist. A good strum is all in the wrist                                Learn the alternating up-down rhythm
