For my Truth and Reconciliation aesthetic representation i chose to make a crochet tapestry of turtle island. For me learning about turtle island and doing the blanket exercise marks the beginning of my journey towards Truth and Reconciliation, so without that moment i would not have the same view point as i do now. Learning about the depths of Indigenous culture allowed me to find ways that I could connect to it which then led me to find extreme importance in Indigenous knowledge and making sure i make my journey never ending. It is also important to me that i make moments like this for my own students, so they can also see the importance of Truth and reconciliation.
