Tech Talk: A Closer Look at Magic School’s AI

This week, we were challenged to find and test an AI tool. As someone who hasn’t used AI tools too much besides ChatGPT, I decided to look around at the different options and ultimately try out Magic School AI. We touched on this AI tool in class, and it intrigued me. The website provided an overview of Magic School AI before choosing between “for schools” or “for teachers.” I would like to note that the teachers’ sign-up is free. There is Magic School Plus that you have to pay for. However, you are provided with a free 14-day trial upon signing up. I attached a screen recording of me going through the AI tool Magic School has to offer.

Upon reviewing the AI tools available on Magic School AI, I would say they are a great resource for educators. Magic School could help educators cut down on the hours spent on lesson planning, creating rubrics, creating questions, and so much more. The tools let you choose the grade(s) you need content generated for, allow you to choose language, and provide other important details you need. This AI tool can help teachers support different learning styles with the ability to make adjustments where needed and add additional notes to cater to the student’s needs. Overall, Magic School AI can be a beneficial tool for educators to utilize in the classroom. I have not seen what is available for non-Magic School Plus users, but the price could be a con for some educators who don’t want to pay. It would depend on the educator and their needs. When used to benefit educators, I think this AI tool has many advantages.
