Welcome to my summary of learning! This course has provided valuable insights into the role of technology in education. We examined various aspects, including the benefits of blended learning, the use of learning management systems, and the importance of making education accessible to all students. It’s been an eye-opening journey into how digital tools can enhance teaching and learning in today’s classrooms. In this reflection, I’ll share some of the most eye-opening lessons I’ve encountered and their impact on me!
I really appreciated your breakdown of blended learning, especially your moment of realization that you’d already been using LMS tools all along without knowing they had a fancy acronym.
Your comparisons of Microsoft Teams and Canvas were super useful too. I agree that Teams often feels like it’s trying to be a jack-of-all-trades, while Canvas actually shows up like a professional with its act together. H5P seems to have hit the sweet spot for you as well, it’s such a fantastic tool for making learning interactive without overwhelming students. The way you framed accessibility through the SECTIONS model was a strong reminder that thoughtful tech integration isn’t just about being flashy—it’s about being fair, inclusive, and effective.
Thanks for sharing your process so clearly. You’ve given me a few things to steal—I mean adapt thoughtfully—in my own teaching practice.
I completely agree that the real power of tools like H5P lies in their ability to enhance engagement without adding unnecessary complexity, and it’s encouraging to hear that you’re also thinking critically about the balance between function and flash. The SECTIONS model has really helped me slow down and consider the why behind each tech choice, not just the what. I’d love to hear more about what tools or strategies you’ve found most effective for supporting accessibility and engagement in your own classroom. Any favourites you keep coming back to?
Mariah, this was such a thoughtful and well-organized summary of learning! I really appreciated how you reflected on your growth—not just in using digital tools, but in rethinking how students engage with content in meaningful ways. Your honesty about the learning curve and the confidence you gained throughout EC&I 834 really resonated with me.
One question I’m curious about: Is there a specific mindset shift from this course that you think will most influence your future teaching practices?
Congrats on wrapping up the course so strongly—your reflection truly shows how much you’ve taken away!
Thanks for your comment! One of the biggest mindset shifts for me was realizing that tech integration isn’t about using the flashiest tools, but about being intentional and inclusive in how we design learning experiences. That lens really changed how I think about planning: not just what students will do, but how and why they’ll engage with it. I’m glad the comparison between Teams and Canvas resonated with you. Sometimes, the right platform can make all the difference in how confident we feel delivering content.
Hi Mariah!! Thanks for this breakdown of all the tools that we use in online and blended learning. I admired your summary of how we can enhance the learning in our classrooms and of utilizing the content to make it engaging for our learners. You have given much thought to accessibility and have created opportunities for it. Congrats!!
Such an insightful reflection.
Your emphasis on accessibility really stood out as one of the most meaningful takeaways. It shows that you’re not just thinking about technology for technology’s sake but about people, equity, and ensuring all learners have the opportunity to thrive. Your reflection shows that you’re leaving EC&I 834 with not only more knowledge but also a stronger sense of how to use that knowledge to improve real classroom experiences.
Thank you for sharing your journey Mariah.
