About Me

Hello! My name is Woodrow Langmaier and I am a third year education student at the University of Regina. This page is here to tell you a bit more about my life and who I am. Below you will find posts about my life growing up, my hobbies, and who I am today as an education student.

Journey Through Education

I was born and have always lived in Regina, Saskatchewan. I grew up living in a quite neighbourhood on the east end of the city, but we always were travelling to visit grandparents at the family farm, or traveling far away to visit other relatives. The first school I ever attended was Saint Dominic Savio School, which is where I first started to show interest in school and education. I always liked going to school and participating in school activities such as track & field, football, and basketball. I thought St.Dominic was an amazing school which really prepared me for my future. I also remember a lot of memorable lessons I was taught that I plan on using myself someday.

Following elementary school, I decided to attend high school at Miller Comprehensive High School where I continued my education. The great part about this school was that It offered many different subjects including automotive, welding, and construction which really prepared me for a future for working in the trades if I chose to follow that route. Miller also offered many different sport opportunities such as handball and soccer, which is where I was able to make a lot of close friends and learn about coaching. Nearing the end of my high school experience, I was still unsure what education or career path I waned to follow. I decided to take a year of the work and review my options, eventually deciding to follow a career as an electrician.

In 2016 /2017 I enrolled at Saskatchewan Polytechnic to learn to become an electrician. At this point in time I was still confused about my career choices, and wanted to attend university to become a teacher, but I just wasn’t sure I had what it took to be an education student and pass university classes. I found out while at Saskatchewan Polytechnic that I had really matured as a student during my year off and was excelling in my classes. After I graduated the pre employment course for electrical, I started working as an electrician but found out that it just went for me or very interesting. I was really heartbroken because I put a lot of working into being an electrician, and it hurt knowing it just wasn’t for me.

After realizing I didn’t want to be an electrician any longer, I decided to follow my original dream and become a middle years teacher. I had a little trouble applying for university and had to upgrade some classes, but ever since I have been accepted into the faculty of education, I have been in love with the program and cannot wait until I can become a teacher.

Outside of the Classroom

While being an education student is my first priority, I make sure to fit in time for hobbies, friends, and family. My favourite thing to do outside of school is to be as active as possible. I enjoy playing sports such as hockey and soccer with my friends with my friends, and going for walks around Wascana lake and trails with my girlfriend who is also a teacher. I also try to fit in time to help coach or volunteer around my neighbourhood when I can. I enjoy spending time with my family and taking vacations all around Canada, and even to California and Hawaii. I also enjoy taking time to myself to maintain my mental health by taking nights off to read or spend time with my dog.
