Resources & Treasures

Ruth M. Buck

I was able to note down a few lessons and tactics that I witnessed during my time in the school that I look forward to using myself someday. I was able to learn many of these because I spent time in various different classrooms throughout the school rather then staying in one.

These included websites such as  Raz-Kids which can really help struggling reader understand the book and improve their confidence in reading. I also learned about a website called BreakoutEDU which is online problem solving for kids, the student really enjoyed this on our day with the computers.

I learned some warm up tactics for gym classes such as using reflex balls and having the students suggest warm ups. I also witnessed some games that combined many different sports elements so that all students could be involved and be successful.

I also learned some classroom management skills, such as clapping a rhythm to get the classes attention, using a speaker and mic so all students can hear, and one teacher even recommended a whistle for louder classrooms. My cooperating teacher used method at the end of the day where the students had to form an oddly line before they can be dismissed.

Glen Elm School

At Glen Elm School I was able to have the experience to work with a wide variety of students at various levels of learning. I was able to pick up a few teaching strategies and classroom management strategies during my short time in the classroom including teaching EAL learners as well as visual learners.
