In high school, I was fortunate to have many experiences in the classroom.

Walter Aseltine School

From grade seven to grade twelve, I volunteered in a grade one classroom every year whenever I had the chance. I would run math centres, help with reading, assist with spelling, as well as go out for recess. Also, I would photocopy worksheets and colouring pages. Additionally, I volunteered on Play Day every June and on Beach Day for the last day of school each year. On Play Day, I would go with the grade ones to their activities and help them with what they needed. On Beach Day, I would play with the students, as well as fill water buckets and rinse off sandy toys.

Prairieland School (Sovereign Colony)

In grade twelve, I started volunteering at a local Hutterite colony. Primarily, I worked with the grade ones, twos, and threes. I would read and do math activities with them. I really enjoyed my time at the school because I was able to experience a different school environment.
