My first experience in the classroom was great! A cool and important detail about my field experience, in particular, is my placement is in my home community in the school that I attended from kindergarten to grade nine. I am also with a grade 1 and 2 split class. My cooperating teacher is really amazing and used many different teaching tools throughout the morning to keep the students always engaged and actively learning. The first thing I did was introduce myself to the students, some I actually knew, and they all got to tell me their names, their favourite school subject, and a fun fact about themselves. Throughout the morning I got to see the guided reading program, and got to look through a bunch of books set out for the Scholastic Book Fair later on that evening. Overall, it was a very welcoming and colourful environment with many helpful posters on the walls.
