The Beginning…

I have decided to learn how to speak Spanish. Spanish is a language that I have always been interested in learning. I have already learned some basic French at the University two years ago. I have never tried to learn Spanish before nor do I know anyone who speaks it. I think this will be interesting to learn and useful to have when traveling to other countries. It will also be useful to have in case there is a student in my class who is new to Canada and Spanish is their first language. Being able to speak a but of their first language will help the student feel more welcome and comfortable.

My plan for learning Spanish will differ from week to week depending on how far I was able to get in each week. For the first week my plan is to learn the alphabet. I will do this by looking at charts online that show the English letter and the pronunciation of it in Spanish. I will also do this by listening to videos to hear how to properly say each letter. For week two I will do the same but with numbers. I will try to learn just numbers 1-10. Once I am able to say the alphabet and the numbers 1-10 in Spanish I will move onto words. From there I will try to form sentences. I will learn through websites, videos, apps, images, and google translate. My goal at the end of this learning project is to be able to speak some sentences in Spanish, preferably ones that will be useful to me as a teacher and a traveler.
