Technology is always Evolving

After reading the article and watching the lecture I have realized that our classrooms will constantly be changing. Technology is always changing and there are always new things on the rise that we have no idea about yet. In the lecture by Wesch, he was talking about the web and stated “It’s not just about information, it’s actually about linking people in ways that we’ve never been linked before. And in ways we can’t even predict because it’s changing almost every 6 months now, there’s a new tool out there that connects us in some way” (Wesch, 2008). This is still happening now where the web is constantly changing and I’m sure it is changing more than every 6 months because of how technology has evolved since this lecture came out in 2008.

Every school in a place that has access to technology will always be kept on their toes because of it always changing. There are constantly new websites or apps that are being made that will make the classroom more efficient. While it can be a major pro it can also be a con. Teachers and schools will need to be more careful because of the new technology that has come out. For example, with artificial intelligence. AI is something that is fairly new and we are finding out more information about it everyday. Students could use AI as a learning tool or use it to do their assignment. This can be a pro for teachers to use to help create rubrics and lesson plans, however it can be a con because the information given is not always accurate which is why it is important to always edit and check everything over before using it for classroom use.

The article showed that TikTok has become very popular this last while. While YouTube was still ahead as being the most used app in 2022. I find that many people are using TikTok for more things than just viewing. Rather people are getting recipes from it or workout routines. It has evolved to be much more than just singing and dancing. Schooling in this digital world needs to include technology that students are using. We can find videos on YouTube that can help to explain a topic. We may also find some videos on TikTok that would also be helpful to explain a topic. Of course, it is always important to check for accuracy with any information from a video being shared. Making use of this new technology will create better engagement for students because it strikes their interests and it is what they are used to.
