Beats me! – Week two Learning Project
This was my first complete week of playing the drums. Did it go to plan you might ask? No it for sure did not. I ran into a few problems throughout the week. The first problem was my dog, she would not stop barking every time I tried to play. I had to let her outside every time I played, but she would then bark outside, so it was a double-edged sword. Another issue that hindered my progress was not being able to play every day for twenty minutes. As a full-time student, who is also working two jobs, I found little to no time to practice. For this week I ended up playing three out of five days. My goal for next week is to work on my time management and to at least try to practice for four days.
What I Practiced:
To start off I found a video for beginners to follow along too. It was relevantly easy to follow along with. I did personally struggling with the aspect of multitasking and keeping a beat. If you know of any activities that can help with rhythm and multitasking, please let me know!
Drummer Joke of the Week:
What is the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?
With a drum machine you only have to punch the instructions in once
Hello there!
That is so funny that your dog started barking every time you played. Maybe he thought he was adding to the music?
I fully understand what you mean about it being hard to find the time to practice. It can be so difficult to balance school, projects, and personal time. That is something that I am working on too!
Good luck with your continued practice and I look forward to seeing your progress!
Hey Jenny!
I love this idea for a learning project, especially since it has been something you have been wanting to get started on anyway! My roommate has a dog as well and HATES any type of loud noises, so I can relate to the challenge you are having. I appreciated the joke at the end, and will definitely be coming back to check out your progress and of course see your new joke too! As you build your skills do you plan on posting a video or sound clip of your progress?
Hey! Thanks for the comment! I am hoping to post a video in one month with my progress. It might not be good, but that’s the whole point!
