Teaching Manifesto

I am Ryan Konanz, I am a white straight male who is wanting to become an educator. and one main thing I have learned is that Teaching is a complex beast; there are so many layers to our students that by the time we have a good understanding we are getting a new batch of students. I believe a teacher needs to have a solid understanding of the affects of colonization and the affects of the indigenous people. Teachers need to be able to make quick alterations unorder to best suit their students needs (Adaptive dimension). A good educator must also be constantly improving, finding new recourse and always challenging the way they think about and preserve their lessons and classroom. This adaptive dimension really stuck with me because I never saw this implemented when I was a student and I saw how many students were left on the sidelines. The same responsibility exists for treaty understanding. We are all treaty people and I need to continue to educate myself and my students about treaties and more to help reconciliations This seems almost like an unreasonable task to tackle. However, I believe that if a teacher is willing to learn and is accommodating to their students needs listen, they will achieve great things. That is why its my goal to create an environment of self respect, individualism, care for others and most importantly confidence. I will achieve this by being inclusive to all people of different races, genders, religions and sexual orientations; and creating lessons plans that are respectful and obtainable to all my students and making alterations when they are not. There is always room for improvement its my plan to continue to learn more about how to support peoples personal identities in my classroom and lessons.

Bellow is a few links that I have read that helped me develop these thoughts.
