It is our goal as the Education Students’ Society (E.S.S.) of the University of Regina to serve fellow U of R students! We want to create a welcoming and supportive community for education students, as well as ensure that you have a great time at the U of R! Every education student is a member of the E.S.S., and we strongly encourage everyone to get involved within the society.
As a member of the Professional Development team for 2020/2021, I had the honour and privilege to host two events.
The first event was with Larae Pearson; a coach that focuses on teamwork, communication and leadership. It was amazing to learn my WHY as an educator and the ways I could implement it into my classroom. As she says “Purpose Shines Through Actions” .. Do you have a purpose statement that is your legacy? A statement that you use to leave a positive impression on those you meet while igniting a fire in yourself as your grow? For myself, I have created two purpose statements for myself. 1: To INSPIRE so that we live in a KINDER world ! 2 : To LOVE people where they’re at so that they THRIVE beyond potential!
The second event was with Dr. Jody Carrington. This event was E.S.S’s biggest event as of 202, having over 300 participants via Zoom. It is important to remember to always surround yourself with people who bring joy and believe you are in game changing professions because when we acknowledge and support one another, we ALL rise! #walkeachotherhome
I am forever thankful for my experience in this role and absolutely loved the experience, but I am incredibly excited to use my knowledge and growth as I begin my new role as Vice President of Internal Student Affairs for 2021/2022. As an elected executive, myself and other council members are advocates! We are a group of hard working and dedicated students who organize events and opportunities for all education students.
