My group focused on making three interconnected lesson plans that focused on Grade 9 Health and Phys Ed. outcomes and indicators.

USC 9.1

Develop informed conclusions about the importance of leadership skills and health promotion in healthy decision making.

a. Evaluate and respond to a variety of sources of, and information about, leadership skills

e. Assess the leadership skills needed/used in health promotion and related decision making

USC 9.5

Evaluate a variety of healthy food policies and plan to participate in the development, revision, and/or implementation of a healthy food policy (e.g., fundraising, feasts, canteen sales, extra-curricular events) in the community (e.g., home, school, arena, youth center.

c. Investigate and document principles of healthy food policies (i.e., one principle is the policy should be based on Canada’s Food Guide).

h. Examine the existing food policies in the school and/or community.
g) Determine the leadership skills that can be used in promoting a healthy food policy.

PE9.12:

Demonstrate an understanding of and incorporate positive social behaviours into all aspects of personal involvement in movement activities, in the context of both a participant and a spectator, after examining the positive and negative influences of organized sports, movement competitions (e.g., dance competition), and mass media on the social behaviour of self and others.

c. Describe the characteristics of specific positive role models, locally, provincially, and globally, who are involved in movement activities.

g. Create a personal “Code of Ethics” for acceptable social behaviour related to participation in sport

This lesson plan was created by my classmate Meagan McLeod, which we used as our group example for our Learning Plan Practice assignment.

The infographic we created provides a summarization of the connections we made between the three outcomes to the idea of leadership. Through the use of our lessons, students will learn what makes someone a good leader, leadership code of ethics, how to lead healthy lifestyles, and the an application of leadership.
