Photography by Michelle Haug along the Wakamow Valley on Treaty 4 land in Moose Jaw, SK.

Land Acknowledgement

As a member of the University of Regina and Moose Jaw community I acknowledge that I am living and learning on Treaty 4 territory that is the ancestral lands of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, and Metis Nations. I am thankful for the opportunity to live and learn in partnership with all Indigenous Nations. I acknowledge harms and mistakes of the past, I do and will honour the treaties made in all territories, and practice reconciliation in all aspects of my life. I also want to recognize the blessings and privileges that have been accorded to me from growing up and living on Treaty 1, 7, and 4 territories within my life thus far. Part of my responsibility in being co-inhibitors in partnership and relationship with all Indigenous Nations and treaty people is ensuring that the true history of our past is shared and passed on to both my own flesh and blood and all those I encounter throughout my lifetime. I want to thank the ancestors of Turtle Island and their descendants for their knowledge and wisdom while offering them my support to ensure the legacies of their people are shared well into the future generations.
