Space, Place, and Boundaries

Professor Fatima Pirbhai-Illich inspired me to look at the spaces, places, and boundaries in my life that are limited as a direct result of colonization.

A Pathway

This is a picture of a pathway that I am very fond of. I have traveled down this path at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park so many times as a little girl and as an adult with my own children. It is a significant enough that we had our family photos in 2015 taken on this pathway. The places I can go from this pathway are endless.

My Sit Spot

This is my sit spot–Mac the Moose. I often come here to just get a change of scenery, quiet time, self reflection, and I have even brought my own children here for various conversations. This is a place where I am not limited by boundaries.

Emotional Mapping

For my emotional mapping, I chose a picture of my kitchen dining area. This space is where we have supper together every night; it is the epicenter to family fun, laughter, and conversations; it is where we host and invite family and friends. There is always something going on in this space.

Perspective

This picture was taken laying down on the rocks by a creek. looking up at the sunset just before it sets below the trees. I love both sunrises and sunsets! What I appreciate about a sunset is that it makes me realize that at the end of the day I am alive, well, and grateful for all I have. It also reminds me that tomorrow is a new day and my mistakes do not define who I am, but they are tools to learn/grow from.
