A Kid Like Jake

Is a movie about a young child born as a male, but does not fit dominant society’s ideals of gender. This movie allows viewers to see first hand the struggles, layers, and emotions that Jake (the child), his parents, his family and educators go through, while trying to do what is best for Jake. It is available now on Netflix; I give it a five star recommendation.

Suzy’s Story

Is an encouragement/message to pre-service teachers (but a message all teachers could apply) to pay attention to your students because you have the power to connect with students and make a difference. Suzy also gives a heart felt inside look at her own personal struggles with sexuality that can help bring understanding to others going through it – Always be listening!
