Final Update: Learning Project: Imperfectly Perfect

Final Update: Learning Project: Imperfectly Perfect

When I chose to revisit my children’s story, David’s Imperfectly Perfect Creations, for my learning project, I had no idea how far I’d go – or how deeply I’d fall back in love with writing.

Unlike other goals that hinge on tangible success, this project was more about the journey than the destination, although my publishing dream lives on. I’ve learned to write honestly, revisit my work intentionally, and share it bravely. In the process, I’ve discovered the joy of creating something meaningful, born from my dreams.

Ironically, I often advise my students and children to focus on the process, not the outcome, but I so rarely practice that adage. Whether or not I receive a response from publishers in the next few months, I’ve already gained so much of what I was looking for: growth, clarity, bravery, and a creative community.

Since I can’t share my full manuscript here, I’ve captured what I’ve learned in a “dreams really do come true” mock magazine Q&A (designed in Canva). It highlights my reflections, story snippets, key takeaways, and hopes. I’ve also created a 7-step infographic on writing and submitting a children’s book, outlining tips and resources I loved.

I hope you find something in here to spark your own creativity. Wishing you joy and courage in your adventures!
