Pinterest 101
Hi everyone! To start my post this week I want to share a bulletin board display that I noticed at one of the schools I was subbing at this week. Now that I am learning ASL, I am definitely more aware when I see it displayed in schools! I thought this was a great way to welcome staff, students, and community members into the school
I also wanted to share another great resource for the classroom that I found on Teachers Pay Teachers. From my time as a substitute teacher, I have noticed that most primary classrooms have alphabet posters displayed in the classroom. These alphabet posters that display the letters in ASL are a great way to integrate ASL into the classroom! I think displaying the ASL alphabet aids in creating an inclusive classroom, and gives students a learning challenge if they have some extra time during class. I will definitely be utilizing these once I have my own classroom!
After coming across this resource, I thought it would be cool to research what other resources are out there that I could incorporate into my classroom. I created a Pinterest board to save resource ideas to come back to in the future. Here is the link to my ASL Pinterest Board if you want to take a peak! I am hoping to continue adding to this board in the coming weeks.
Do you incorporate any ASL resources into your classroom? Or if you’re a pre-service teacher, do you have any ideas on how you could incorporate ASL into the classroom?
Hey! I am learning ASL for my learning project too! I also have noticed that I have been more aware when I see ASL places that I never realized before.
However, in my search for new learning resources I found a fun video that could be used in the classroom. Funnily enough, the next day when I went into my pre-intern classroom, my co–op teacher played the exact same video for the kids and they had watched it before! The video is See It, Say It, Sign It on YouTube. Here is the link – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP1blVh1ZQM. I think it is a cute and catchy video. The channel who posted it also has some other ASL videos that could be used in the classroom!
