Live, Laugh, Lasagna!

Howdy classmates,

This week we are going to look at time-lapse videoing! Time-lapse can be found on the camera app of an IOS device at the bottom of the screen! Time-Lapse Photography is a technique in which the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than the frequency used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. For example, an image of a scene may be captured at 1 frame per second but then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent 30 times speed increase. Similarly, film can also be played at a much lower rate than at which it was captured, which slows down an otherwise fast action, as in slow motion or high-speed photography.

Why did I choose time lapse?

My learning project is based around learning how to cook and even though I was making a lasagna the prep and cook time probably took about an hour! Who would want to watch a full hour of me cooking a lasagna. Well funny enough… you did! but, with the help of time-lapse it sped up so in an hour of me cooking it took you 30 seconds to watch it! I think using time-lapse would be beneficial in a classroom setting because it helps students understand complex concepts and processes. I would use this for a science lesson so students could see dynamic changes in nature, such as the movement of clouds, the blooming of flowers, or the changing seasons. This can help students understand natural processes and environmental changes.

I then used iMovie to edit the videos. I found iMovie was user friendly and I used to use it as a kid so I was curious to see how it has advanced.

Using these two apps was very convenient for me as I already had these downloaded on my phone!

Enjoy this time-lapse of me making lasagna!
