    Think Before You Click

I originally planned to have this post answer the weekly prompt and call it a day, however, this week I was a part of an online scam… or what some may call fraud… so I thought I may as well share that LOL. First of all, I would like to say that both cyber safety and digital citizenship were frequently talked about to me at home and at school. My peers and I were constantly told that anything can happen on the internet and that the internet basically contained negative things. There were many posters, videos and films that I can remember being presented to me, which all felt like…

    Beyond the Mat: Post #8

So, this week I decided to mix things up and approach a new way to learn about Yoga! Lately, as I’ve been getting better at my practice, I’ve realized there’s not much new to update you guys on, just the usual progress (sometimes I wish I chose a project that involved more learning!). That’s why I thought I’d switch gears a bit, and try a new form of media to learn from. Don’t laugh, but I got into watching this really interesting documentary. I know, a documentary might not sound like the most exciting thing, but hear me out. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved relaxing and learning…

Blog + Learning Project Post #4 : Trying Out iMovie

This week, I tried experimenting with an App called “iMovie“. This app is intended to guide video creation and editing through a selection of editing tools found in the app. iMovie’s options and features include things like different color and filter settings, transitions, captions, and modifications with the speed or settings on your video. After exploring iMovie, I thought that this app was a great option to use because there were many features that I could get familiar with. In my yoga sample video down below, I incorporated captions, time lapse/sped up clips, and a voice over. I though felt that being able to incorporate a few aspects of this…

    Yogis In Training: Post #6

Hey everyone, I can come to you with good news this week! I completed four 10 minute sessions of Yoga at the gym and one at home! I am here to tell you that…… *drum roll please*……I can definitely notice some new improvements. This week, I became aware of the noticeable improvement in my hamstrings’ flexibility. I used to feel like I was going to pull a hamstring in practically every posture, but this week my legs must have loosened up! I also became aware of the differences in flexibility throughout my neck and shoulders. As I’ve previously mentioned, I have a fairly stiff neck and a less flexible left…

    Daily Yoga Challenge: Post #5

I am so happy that the break has arrived because it was much-needed. I’ve felt like the past several weeks have been long and busy with work and school. Even though I needed time this week to just to do “nothing,” I knew that having one activity planned for each day was essential for getting me out of the house and doing something! I believe having something to look forward to every day helps to make the day go easier. Because I normally go to the gym on a daily basis, I decided that from Monday to Friday this break, I would do some yoga immediately before I left for…

Looking At The Positive: Post #3

Unfortunately this week I am not happy with my learning outcome! I can say that I definitely did not get the yoga time in… and did not fit much time of it in my schedule either. But, I know some weeks I will accomplish more than others. When looking at the positive side of things, I can say that I did accomplish a goal that I set for myself in my last post! If you have been following, my goal was to “learn more about the practice of yoga and its significance” which I did research and find some answers to my questions. Even though this week lacked in minutes…

Blog Post 3: The New Culture of Participation In A Changing World

The new culture of participation in a changing world with social media platforms opens up endless opportunities for community. We can see community through the interactions, likes, and shares gained from a video, or the various ways that people can connect with one another through media. In Wesch’s video “An anthropological introduction to YouTube”, he describes these platforms as a “celebration of new forms of empowerment” and “global connections” that bring “unimaginable possibilities”. I find that his description is accurate because there is no other way to explain to someone what social media is- other than the many ways it can connect people to one another. No matter what website,…

Blog Post 2: How Does Technology Play A Role In My Life?

My daily routine during the week often consists of the same things every day: work, school, go back to work, workout, sleep and repeat. Anything in between there includes activities such as eating, chores or more homework and planning. This routine does allow time for some technology and my devices throughout the day, however, most of my day “screen time” consists of iMessages, Mail, and platforms used for my school work and work. I occasionally find myself scrolling on my social media apps, like Snapchat, Instagram or Facebook, however, I can admit that I am a wholehearted night time scroller. This intense scrolling happens from feeling like I need to…

First Impressions of Yoga: Post #2

This week, my focus was to understand yoga a bit better, and appreciate the practice. This week I got more comfortable with the  Yoga | Mind + Body app and found myself using it a few times. I spent just over one hour doing yoga. Although this is not much, I was hoping to ease into yoga since it is new and unfamiliar to me. The last thing I wanted to do was rush, and get bored… which can sometimes happens to me when I get too excited and rush into something. Another online source I used was a Youtube video called “10 Minute Morning Yoga to FEEL INCREDIBLE! (Beginner…
