The Sound to Silence: Post #10

So, its been a week since I created my Yoga playlist and I wanted to update everyone about if that has been successful or not. It has been one f the best decisions I have made during my Yoga journey! I wish I created this playlist sooner. When I talked about my blog last, I only had 10 songs in the playlist. I knew this was enough, however, as I added more songs and did some Googling, I found this article discussing the power of sound, music and humming in Yoga. This interested more because of the humming part than anything LOL. You know, those videos where Yogis are crossed…

    Yoga Beats: Post #9

Hey everyone! So, this week I tried out a different approach for my Learning Project. It all started when I was watching that short documentary last week and paid attention to the music they used. It got me thinking about the music I’ve been playing during my yoga sessions. Turns out, I have been listening to my workout playlist, which is basically all rap—definitely not the right vibe for yoga LOL. All this time, I have been listening to the same playlist and never even considered making a Yoga playlist? What was I doing? I quickly realized this playlist was probably a major distraction for me and killed any focus…

Summary of Personal Learning: Post #11

Hey all! I am at the bitter-sweet part of this course where it has begins to come to a close. At this point in my journey, I decided to make a video so you could hear my voice for a change. Instead of typing out a long blog post, with occasional pictures, where you have to read and scroll for 10 minutes, I thought that a video would be more fun! In this video, I’ll give you a rundown on my blog highlights, share my experiences, and chat about all the things I have taken away and learned from this course, and throughout my learning project. Check out the video…

    Navigating the Noise: Post #7

When I woke up this week, I knew I wanted to be a bit determined with my Yoga outcomes. I was eager to make a goal, but once I stepped onto the yoga mat, I had a sense of disappointment. I did not want to start my Yoga session like this, so I put the mat away and began my workout. After completing this, I grabbed the mat again and just sat there. People were probably wondering if I was okay LOL, but I was sitting there trying to get in a positive and relaxed mindset. This did not include any thinking, but just calming my body. If anything, my…

Cheers to A New Era of Blogging and Yoga?

Hey Everyone! This is my first post dedicated to me Learning Project. My Learning Project features something I have always had an interest in, but have never pursued: Yoga! As a previous athlete, and still active individual, I have always heard the great benefits of yoga and the raves people have about trying it. I have always been unsure, but now is never too late to give it a try. My idea for this project came about because of a video, that I came across on my TikTok ForYouPage (of course lol). This video promoted the benefits of yoga, and its ability to ease the mind, yet still improve the…

    Think Before You Click

I originally planned to have this post answer the weekly prompt and call it a day, however, this week I was a part of an online scam… or what some may call fraud… so I thought I may as well share that LOL. First of all, I would like to say that both cyber safety and digital citizenship were frequently talked about to me at home and at school. My peers and I were constantly told that anything can happen on the internet and that the internet basically contained negative things. There were many posters, videos and films that I can remember being presented to me, which all felt like…

    Beyond the Mat: Post #8

So, this week I decided to mix things up and approach a new way to learn about Yoga! Lately, as I’ve been getting better at my practice, I’ve realized there’s not much new to update you guys on, just the usual progress (sometimes I wish I chose a project that involved more learning!). That’s why I thought I’d switch gears a bit, and try a new form of media to learn from. Don’t laugh, but I got into watching this really interesting documentary. I know, a documentary might not sound like the most exciting thing, but hear me out. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved relaxing and learning…

Blog + Learning Project Post #4 : Trying Out iMovie

This week, I tried experimenting with an App called “iMovie“. This app is intended to guide video creation and editing through a selection of editing tools found in the app. iMovie’s options and features include things like different color and filter settings, transitions, captions, and modifications with the speed or settings on your video. After exploring iMovie, I thought that this app was a great option to use because there were many features that I could get familiar with. In my yoga sample video down below, I incorporated captions, time lapse/sped up clips, and a voice over. I though felt that being able to incorporate a few aspects of this…

    Yogis In Training: Post #6

Hey everyone, I can come to you with good news this week! I completed four 10 minute sessions of Yoga at the gym and one at home! I am here to tell you that…… *drum roll please*……I can definitely notice some new improvements. This week, I became aware of the noticeable improvement in my hamstrings’ flexibility. I used to feel like I was going to pull a hamstring in practically every posture, but this week my legs must have loosened up! I also became aware of the differences in flexibility throughout my neck and shoulders. As I’ve previously mentioned, I have a fairly stiff neck and a less flexible left…

    Daily Yoga Challenge: Post #5

I am so happy that the break has arrived because it was much-needed. I’ve felt like the past several weeks have been long and busy with work and school. Even though I needed time this week to just to do “nothing,” I knew that having one activity planned for each day was essential for getting me out of the house and doing something! I believe having something to look forward to every day helps to make the day go easier. Because I normally go to the gym on a daily basis, I decided that from Monday to Friday this break, I would do some yoga immediately before I left for…
