Contributing to The Learning of Others

Over the course of the semester we were introduced to three different resources that would eventually be used throughout the semester very frequently. These three resources were Twitter, Slack and Blogs. With joining all three platforms, I was able to connect with my classmates, other educators from around the world/community as well as contribute to the learning of others in a positive way. These platforms allowed me to create great online relationships and open me to new resources that I will hopefully bring with me to my future classroom! Now, lets first take a look at Twitter! I was a little skeptical on Twitter at the beginning of this course…

All Good Things Must Come to An End

Wow, I cannot believe this semester is already coming to an end and this Learning Project is over. I absolutely loved this project and enjoyed making something new and different every week! I had no idea I would have enjoyed this project so much but over the semester, I really came around to enjoy every part of it. This allowed me to finally learn how to cook which is something I have been wanting to learn how to do for some time now. This project was a great start for my cooking journey! I am so glad I was able to participate in something such as this. This project allowed…

    Garlic Butter Salmon? Yum

Wow, I cannot believe this is my last time cooking for my blog!! This journey has been so much fun and I am really glad I chose to cook for my project! Any who, this week for my last week of cooking I decided to make a garlic butter salmon dish. Now, I know not everybody likes salmon but this one you’ve gotta try! I once again found the recipe from Pinterest (this is always a life savor, you can find anything on there!). The recipe came from Dinner at the Zoo that I found scrolling through Pinterest. I came across a lot of recipes but this one stuck out…

    Learning How To Code!

This week we were introduced to the topic of coding! Now, when I first heard we were going to learn about coding, I had no idea what to expect. When I hear the word coding I automatically think numbers and a bunch of confusing things that goes along with it. However, it wasn’t like that at all (at least the portion that we learnt wasn’t.. haha). Which I am very glad about because I am not a huge technology person and would definitely have some struggles. When we were looking at examples in class and experimenting with them I thought to myself ‘wow, this seems pretty cool and easy to…

    Real or Fake?

This past week in class we talked a lot about digital literacy as well as learning about fake websites/accounts online. As we did the activity in class trying to figure out if the account was real or fake I came to realize that I really cannot tell %100 of the time if the account is real or not. I made my own thoughts and opinions about the certain account and thought they were valid enough however, that was not true. It made me re-think about how I view other accounts online and as well as informational websites. Through my whole life with doing research, and projects for school and using…

    Garlic-Parmesan Wings

I am very excited for this weeks meal and cannot wait to show you guys what it is! This week I was thinking chicken but I wanted to spice it up a little and try something different. So, I went onto Pinterest (you can never go wrong with Pinterest) and found a really tasty garlic-parmesan chicken wing recipe that I thought I could try! Now, I’ve had garlic-parmesan wings before but in a restaurant and really liked them, so I wanted to give these a try on my own. There were tons of recipes on these wings but with the one I found I already had everything at home with…

    This is No Kraft Dinner

Alright, for this weeks meal I was a little stumped and did not know what to make. So, I asked my family for some ideas and my brother reallyyy wanted Mac and Cheese. So, I gave him mac and cheese haha. This meal had me bring out my inner child and remembering eating good old Kraft dinner when I was younger (well maybe occasionally now too lol). I did my research and watched a few videos and read a few websites in order to find the perfect mac and cheese recipe to recreate. And I think I found a pretty good one. I used a YouTube video this week from…

    Digital Identity and Cyber Sleuthing

This week we talked about our digital identity as well as cyber sleuthing (which I have never heard of before this class). I knew that having a digital footprint online can be very useful but also scary. Putting yourself on the internet, making multiple accounts and interacting with people from all around the world can be dangerous if not used correctly. I personally have a lot of social networks. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook (which I never ever use), Pinterest, Snapchat, and a few others. I understand that having these accounts I am putting myself out into the world for anyone to find me. However, I make smart decisions and think about…

    Digital Citizenship and the Curriculum

This past week in class, we talked about digital citizenship. According to Digital Citizenship– “Digital citizenship is the continuously developing norms of appropriate, responsible, and empowered technology use.” This is made up of 9 elements that can be used in multiple different subject areas. The elements are listed below: Digital Access Digital Commerce Digital Communication and Collaboration Digital Etiquette Digital Fluency Digital Health and Welfare Digital Law Digital Rights and Responsibility Digital Security and Privacy Here is a fun, short video explaining it a little more: While taking a look at the Saskatchewan Curriculum, I am able to find connections made to different subject areas that can connect to using…

Olive Garden’s Famous Fettuccine Alfredo But at Home

Alright, I am pretty excited about this weeks dish for many reasons. 1. I love pasta. 2. I love Olive Garden. 3. I love fettuccine alfredo. So I thought why not make it myself? And that is exactly what I did! I was really excited to try and make my own alfredo sauce from scratch this week as I have never done so before. I always wanted to try making it myself instead of using the store bought version. And let me tell ya… it was worth it. I got the recipe from The Cozy Cook just online and this was my first time using this specific website. I really…
