Let’s Code in the Classroom
Today i exploring coding on Code.org, I tried a bunch of different coding games to get a feel of coding. While i was trying out different coding games i found some that were easier and some that were hard and took up more time. The one coding game i struggle with was flappy bird, as when it was time for myself to make up my own course i could not figure out how to make the bird flap (fly when clicked on the screen) as the coding for the bird to flap never pop up for some reason. So i was not sure if i missed a step to not be able to have the coding for the bird to flap/fly. But other then that i would say this coding was pretty easy to understand and get. The next coding game i played was Rodocodo-code Hour, i found this coding game lots of fun and simple to understand. As you have to get the cat to the finish line by making a pattern of different code like moving forward, picking up, left and right. And you have to get the right pattern to complete the level and the pattern continues to get long as the levels go on. Here is a video of me coding on Rodocodo.
I think coding could be useful to do in the classroom, but i don’t think i would take time out of the day or take a subject time for students to learn how to code. As i would bring coding into the classroom as a fun activity to do once in awhile or when the students are done their work early and wants to do something. They could learn how to code on their own time. As not all students might want to learn how to code, so giving it as an option is the way i would bring it into the classroom.
