Journey Towards Reconciliation Aesthetic Representation
For my aesthetic representation, I decided to create a collage of pictures that I thought best represented the history of residential schools within Canada. I added two orange hands to represent coming together and fixing the broken relationships with our Indigenous people. I chose the color orange because of the annual orange shirt day that is to honor the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools. In my Journey to Reconciliation assignment, I said one way to reach reconciliation is to acknowledge and accept the past wrongdoings of residential schools. By doing so we can take the steps we need to start repairing the broken relationships Canada has with their Indigenous people.
