  • How can teachers maximize engagement among multilingual students?
  • What are some effective ways to integrate multilingual instructional strategies into classrooms?

I honestly think we as teachers can maximize engagement among multilingual students in many ways. For example, having students who speak other languages other than English, present a few words and teach the class about their own culture. I feel like this is a great way to incorporate engagement within the classroom. Within the article Blog Post 11 Article, it says, “over time, students and teachers learn a new collection of words in different languages.” Which I think just shows how engaging your students to teach and learn new languages maximizes engagement with your multilingual students. Another thing teachers can do is allow students to share personal experiences, and incorporate the different cultures within the curriculum your teaching. Classrooms can have instructional strategies to integrate multilingualism into the classroom, for example, teachers could do numbers in another language, and the step-by-step will allow students to see the difference in numbers, and letters even. Finally, I think teachers can also encourage participation within their classroom, being happy to teach new cultures and diversity will allow your students to see that learning these topics is important.
